PLEASE UN – HELP SAVE THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL

Geneva UNHRC August 2015. Ccf (Coalition for Children & Family) Israel, give a speech to ask for investigation and an independent ombudsman for the child as signed by the treaty for the UN Charter for the Right of the Child. Israelis have waited almost 30 years and yet to have an independent outlet for assessments of the procedures to protect Children in the State of Israel. The situation has become serious, with statistics showing that 10,000 children are taken from their homes. A documentary film in Israel indicated that at least 50% of them do not need to removed. The Civil Society have been campaigning for almost 5 years for a change in family laws, especially regarding shared parenting. Israeli parents have no independent bodies to complain to inside the country, and therefore the civil society campaigns internationally. In 2011 following their first meeting in Geneva, a UN rapporteur did visit the country, and strongly recommended a change to the Tender Years Doctrine, which in Israel indicates that ALL children in divorce are handed to the mother, whether or not fit for pupose – aged 6 and under. Israel is the last country in the Western Democracies to abolish this law. It was still being discussed in 2017.
